Mid Summer Race Notes

Mid Summer Race Notes

It's been a fast and furious summer with lots of training and a few races. Last month I took on the Coast to Coast 100 in Luddington Michigan. I raced it last year and underestimated the long sections of sand. So this year I was focused on a few goals. Fueling properly and navigating the sand. I almost nailed the nutrition, but the heat got the better of me and I ran out of water with about 10 miles to go. I still finished well and had a great time at the race. Highly recommend it if you are in the area.

Just last weekend, I had the opportunity to attend the Dustbowl 100 in Eminence Indiana. This event is put on by a friend of mine (Marc O'Leary). It's grown astronomically over the last few years! I missed it last year while racing The Rift in Iceland.

This year Zipp was the title sponsor and Marc brought in hometown hero Reggie Miller to the race! It was great riding with him in the first 20 miles before things got heated up.

Dustbowl 100

Unfortunately, the Dustbowl threw me a surprise and I hit the ground pretty hard at mile 30. I rode on with the second group to mile 83 when my rear derailleur couldn't take any more.
